People who visited our StarWalk Kids booth at the #TDS14 Virtual Conference, sponsored by School Library Journal, were captivated by a video made by Seymour Simon. In it, he talks about the powerful mentor texts that constitute a significant portion of our collection, and gives a three-and-a-half-minute overview of the wonderful authors whom we publish.
This year a group of authors, publishers and bloggers launched a social media campaign to call attention to the lack of diversity in children's literature. Authors, illustrators, publishing executives and others are posting under the hashtag #WeNeedDiverseBooks by finishing in their own words a sentence that begins, "We need diverse books because..."
